about enable wa

Enable is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation that has been operating since 1991.  We provide support to individuals and their families living with disability and mental health diagnosis, as well as aging, and short and long term illness.

Our purpose is driven by the belief that everyone deserves a ‘typical life’ and with belief, anything is possible.  Given the opportunity and the tools, we believe everyone can succeed.  And that is our goal.

Once we understand a person’s ambitions our role is to assist in finding the tools, the support, the encouragement, and the way to make it happen, ensuring they reach their dreams and aspirations. Our process is simple, collaborative, and flexible.  We stand beside our clients, to help them achieve their desired outcomes.

How do we achieve this? We utilise our expertise and support them with resources such as community access and inclusion; social skills training; person-centred planning; behavioural support planning; and access to a range of initiatives that create a better experience of community.

We employ a dedicated team who understand the importance of inclusion as a concept for developing and maintaining a good life.  They provide support in many ways: as a companion; a personal care assistant; a skills trainer; a mentor; or as a connector and facilitator.

They ensure our clients are involved in a variety of daily experiences which are characterised by:

  • Sharing places:
by sharing the ordinary places of community life at the same time and in the same way as others.

  • Belonging:
helping them develop a wide, diverse range of relationships with people.

  • Having a valued role:
being respected by others and seen as a valued person who has a positive role to play in life.

  • Choosing:
making choices, big and small in all areas of life.

  • Contributing:
providing the opportunity to share talents, passions, interests, ideas and opinions to others in the community.

  • Support:
ensuring they get the right practical support to meet their individual needs.

We can also provide:

  • Keys for life driving program

  • Registered nursing service

  • 24/7 response service

  • Positive behavioural support

  • Transition planning

Most importantly, Enable is about people and the communities in which they live, work and play.
